3DR DIY quad can't lift itself with 100% throttle

Hi,

This is my first quad, I am very new here.

I got a DIY quad kit from 3DR, I have installed it and set up the PID parameters as:

MC_PITCHRATE_D = 0.004

MC_PITCHRATE_I = 0.1

MC_PITCHRATE_P = 0.18

MC_PITCH_P = 4.5

MC_ROLLRATE_D = 0.004

MC_ROLLRATE_I = 0.1

MC_ROLLRATE_P = 0.18

MC_ROLL_P = 4.5

MC_YAWRATE_D = 0

MC_YAWRATE_I = 0.02

MC_YAWRATE_P = 0.2

MC_YAW_P = 4.5

I couldn't hover with it even with 100% throttle, it didn't lift itself from the ground. Have you encountered such a problem? Do you have any solution for it?

  • Your props may be on upside down - be sure the side with the embossed writing faces up. Also check your motor rotation,

    • Thank you Chim, you are right, the props were upside down, I fixed them and now it can hover.

  • What is your battery rated? I just posted about a similar issue where my 3S 440mah 15C battery need 80% or more throttle to lift. Whereas my 4S 4200mah 35C battery only needs around 50% throttle.

    Of course, knowing more about engine size, ESC size, weight, prop size will help too...

    • and using APC Propellers 10X47 too

    • I am using 4S 6000mAh 35C battery, using the 3DR 880Kv AC2836-35 motor, and ESC 20 Amp with SimonK. all where provided from 3DR as part of the DIY kit.
