3DR Iris Radio Problems, (Driver issue?)

I have an old Iris that I am trying to get up and running in anticipation of the part 107 coming online (Yay!). However I am having trouble getting the radio or the Iris to connect to my computer so I can upload a flight plan to it. The radio seems to be functioning (Green blinking light, Solid green when Iris is turned on), however my computer will not recognize it at all. There is no sign of it whatsoever in the device manager.

I have installed the latest version of Mission Planner as well as the FTDI drivers found here http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm. However neither of these steps have made the radio visible.

Any ideas on what I can do to get this guy back up and flying?

I am using the 3DR radio as seen below:

  • So it ended up being something much simpler... It turns out that every micro USB in the house was power only. It took one from work to get it going!

Chris- I would like to thank you for putting together such a capable UAV (The Iris). Some work that I did with it several years ago landed me my current dream job! Again, thanks!

Try plugging it in while you're in the Windows Device Manager and see what Windows thinks it is. Sometimes Windows 10 thinks it's something it's a different device, so you'll have to manually switch drivers to the FTDI driver (you'll only have to do this once)
