3DR Radio with an ArduIMU+ V3

Hi,

I'm getting some conflicting information and was hoping someone here might be able to help.

I want to use an ArduIMU+ V3 with a 3DR Radio (as seen below)

I'm finding lots of conflicting information about use though... so here's what I'm doing.

I am using the ArduIMU in a project where I'm just tracking orientation of a remote object NOT A DRONE.

I want to use the 3DR Radio as a serial transmitter to send the telemetry data from the IMU to my base PC for recording that data. The 3DR Radio seems like a perfect fit, but it sounds like maybe the most recent version doesn't support serial communications. That this was only possible with an older version of the transmitter. The 3DR support team just kept trying to tell me it would only connect to an autopilot system, but it says right on the site "Serial interface: 3.3 V UART"

If it does work, I just need to figure out what pins to map from the IMU to the Radio.

Could anyone provide some insight here?

Thanks a million!

Bryan

  • IMHO there's no difference between "old" 3DR Radio and current one (beside USB connector).

You should be able to do what you are planning. Use pinout provided for seriall telemetry port on Pixhawk.
