Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I couldn't see a more likely place to ask.
I recently bought a used quadrotor with an APM 2.0 on it. I haven't done much with it yet but would like to see it flying. However, I did connect it to the PC with Flight planner software and was blown away by the stability of the sensors compared to what is in a phone. I use a Galaxy SII at the moment which is one of the better phones out there sensor wise. Many don't even have gyros yet. It got me thinking about using external sensors for the phone.
I want this for accurate AR on the phone. It would be great if the compass was accurate as I want the phone to know where it is in the outside world.
I have the IOIO here but haven't ever even connected it to a phone yet. I was wondering if there is a straightforward way to just plug the APM into a post .2.3.4 phone and get it to recognise the output from the sensors like APM planner does?
Would the IOIO be a simpler approach if I got some sort of breakout board with 9 dof and connect it using SPI or I2C?
Any help greatly appreciated.
