I am connecting my xbees to my ardupilot shield board and was following the ardupilot online manual however there is a discrepancy between two photos on where to plug the jumper wires in. The first photo shows the power plugged into the special pin you solder on the shield board. the second photo then shows it plugged into the row of pins with the red circle highlighting where it should go.

I have followed what the first photo displays but the xbee has no power.

What is the correct location to plug the power jumper wire into?

It's not a discrepancy: you can use either position. We recommend the one in the first picture, as stated in the manual, to minimize electrical noise. If you're not getting power please check that you soldered the right pin, as described in the shield assembly section.

This is how I have the board setup. Is this incorrect?
That's correct. You'll note that the pin you've got the red wire on says 5v, and if you measure it with a voltmeter it should be about that. If you're having trouble powering the Xbee, the problem lies elsewhere.
