UNDER PERPETUAL DEVELOPMENT...

The Parrot AR Drone 2.0 represents an entry-level class of the almost-RTF UAV that
is
quickly setting the standard for other RTF UAV-makers to beat....hopefully sooner,
rather than later. This pro-active thread will set-out some goals and specifications
of what a
competitive, prosumer-grade UAV platform should have and look-like:

Made, or at least assembled, in the Canada and the U.S.   NAFTA automatically
      includes
Mexico in this arrangement, so, la bienvenida a cualquier empresa legítima
mexicano UAV que no son financiados por dinero de la droga.

I feel the idea of using a tablet and App's for UAV flight and camera control
is so darn elegant that I want to promote this idea as a standard to be met !

It must have a useful payload capacity of at least 300 gram, without sacrificing flight
capabilities. It should have a robust radio interface, like 4G-TLE, Spektrums DSMX, etc
.....something that can interface easily with an Apple or Android tablet.

It should have a built-in (inboard), manually directional HD camera that streams
video directly to the tablet, in real-time. It would be used primarily as a real-time, FPV,
"video-assist" for a much higher quality, exterior (outboard) action camera
that is
fastened on to the exterior of the airframe with industrial-strength Velcro.

Remember: limited payload capacity means limited camera mounting options.
