Hi all, I just bought the thinnest 15mmx15mm alu tubing at my hardware store. Thickness is 1.5 mm.. But now I realize that's probably way to thick and it should be 0.5mm?

I was just shopping for the same thing, and could not find aluminum square tube locally. Then I remembered what I had learned on DIYDrones - Look in the bathroom design section of a Home Depot or hardware store for aluminum towel bars. They sell them without the end caps so you can mix and match. I just bought two sets - two 24" and two 18" - so i can experiment with different size arms. They are very thin and light.

Great, thanks for sharing!!

Hi Neil.  Thanks for the tip.  I picked up the same towel rods from Home Depot yesterday, so I'm curious if that solution worked for you? If so, how did you mount your motors to the towel rods?  Did you use anything special to drill the holes into the towel rods (or did you just use your drill with a small drill bit)?  I also noticed these towel rods are slightly thicker than the stock 1/2" arms that come on the Arducopter, so I guess I'll need to widen the Arducopter base plates a little for them to fit.

Hi Darrin, I just ordered a few alu arms from the DIYdrones shop. Afterwards I got the tip from Neil. So I don't know exactly how they fit the motors to the arms. But I think you can just drill a hole and use the mount that comes with the motor (the square).
