Hi George,
Google search revealed the following, I know our GIS dept used fujitsu for outdoor data collection but haven't used it my self. but heard they r ok but pricy

George, best bet is a matt-screen laptop with a cover blocking out the top and sides, imho it works quite well, but it seems harder and harder to find non-glossy screen laptops. Lenovo still makes them, don't know of others.

I received my newly aquired Dell E6400 today, after a lot of compromizing between various needs and desires. Fairly: compact, robust, powerfull, well equiped, ment for multil-purpose family use, beside outdoor use with my UAV and indoor with demanding image-processing software etc.

Screen is very bright and clear on default settings on battery (almost too bright), so I imagine visibility will be good also outdoor. But frankly I believe most modern laptops with matted screens are more or less equally good with regard to visibility. Most laptops use LCDscreens don't they(?) I believe screens with plasma- or the new sed-technology might be even better, but I can't remember to have seen any new laptops with those technologies.
