APM 2.0 - Onboard or external GPS - What fits better to Bixler?

After reading this article of Chris (http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/roundupreview-of-all-the) I bought a Bixler for my APM :)

I also ordered my APM 2.0 5 days ago with an on-board GPS.

The problem is that since then I saw several setups with the Bixler and in most of them I see an external GPS. I am not sure how to setup an on-board GPS even with https://store.diydrones.com/Bixler_SkySurfer_Chassis_No_Pan_Tilt_p/... :(

So since my order is going to be shipped in 2-4 weeks I thought that I could ask to change my order to an external GPS (I am not sure if this is possible). But before asking, can anyone confirm which is the best setup with the Bixler? Any links to posts of photos would help a lot!

Thanks!

Hi Frank,

I've just gotten my APM2 with onboard GPS. I just mounted it in my Bixler and haven't got any problems. I think is is more important with the external GPS if you're flying a big plane with a lot of metal in it (shields the antenna on the board).

Best regards

Michael

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your answer.

Did you put the APM 2.0 inside foam or are you using the Chassis (https://store.diydrones.com/Bixler_SkySurfer_Chassis_No_Pan_Tilt_p/...) ?

Frank

Hi Frank,

I just put some velcro underneath the board and mounted it in the center of inside of the plane.
