APM 2.5.2 wont connect after firmware upgrade

I have a 3DRobitics APM v 2.5.2.  Everything was working fine with firmware 3.1.5.  I attempted to upgrade the firmware to 3.2 and now I cannot connect with the apm board.

When I connect the battery, the power light is green and the ppm/serial data light flashes.  Lights A B C do nothing - they used to flash when I connected the battery.  The GPS unit, telemetry receiver, and rc receiver all get power - as their lights flash.  I can also connect an esc the board with motor and the attached led lights.  I can’t arm with the transmitter, and when I connect to the computer via usb (I also leave battery connected) it will not connect to mission planner.  I try to re-upgrade the firmware but it gives error “no communication” When I try to connect using terminal – nothing happens.  I use the correct port and baud rates, and can see he device working properly in device manager.

Is the board fried – or is there a way to fix it?
