APM 2.5 Channel 1 servo twitching in LOITER

I recently set up my bixler 1.1 and found some unusual behavior on channel 1 in LOITER Mode. Here are my details.

APM 2.5 with plane:2.78

Power Monitor

Airspeed Sensor

external compass

J1 removed / SBEC 5V/5A on the servo rail

Problem

I was doing some ground checks (motor disconnected) and originally noticed that in any "Guided Mode" (ie RTL,AUTO,LOITER ect) that the channel 1 out was commanding very quick servo deflections around the ailerons trimmed positions. It was not full servo deflection, but more like 300-400 pwm worth. No "chan 1 in" changes were observed on the tuning page. It seems to be the most repeatable in LOITER, and does not always happen in AUTO. I have not seen anything like this in manual or stabilize

What i have tried

I experimented with pulling sensors and using different power sources- no change

Checked my voltage regulator on the compass to 3.3 volts (regulator works)

probably 20+ resets- no change

Did not observe the problem on the tuning page (channel 1 out)  when everything was disconnected and on USB power.

I suspect a power problem on the chip, and i have read of unresolved LOITER crashes in some of the formus, but I cannot seem to find any descriptions like this in any of the forums.

Attached are my logs, and a video of the servo movement while in loiter, and slow angle of bank changes of the board.

Any input or similar experiences would be helpful

  • Hi,

It's probably just the random noise in the GPS position and the plane being very near its home pos. that makes it sometimes want to turn right and sometimes left to get there. But yeah, if a plane is like less than 10 meters from home it could have been made to just want to level...

I was going to write, try move it away from its startup home position. But Arduplane now keeps re-setting its home position until some armed condition. Well try take of, land, carry the plane to near its home but not right over it and see if it still twithces.

    Regards

    Soren
