Hello, I am currently using Naza with GPS and would like to switch to the APM and ublox gps.
My question is will I need anything else to fly the copter autonomously with waypoints ?
I have no need for OSD but do wish to fly it to waypoints.
Thanks for your help

All of this must be done on Ch5? Seems like it might get confusing during flight ?
Oliver seems like the very nice "Zoom to" will find you on the map very nicely allowing you to enter your home position,so you dont have to bring a laptop to the field

Mark, if you have telemetry (such as with the 3DR radio set) you can change to any mode you want via the Mission Planner. No need to use RC for mode switching.

Permalink Reply by Mark on January 2, 2013 at 8:24pm Chris as I read on and on about the tuning process I have to wonder how many people are actually able to properly tune all the,at this moment, very confusing PIDs. On one hand I welcome the challenge on the other the very well written instructions seem difficult to understand. In an earlier response you had mentioned with the dji the PIDs should be very close.

Mark, I think many people are able to get them tuned. We don't actually hear from that many people who simply give up.
One thing to keep in mind is that not all the PID numbers have to be tuned. Most Axes actually have 2 or even 3 levels of PID, but the upper two levels typically don't need to be tuned to get flying. They would just sort of go to personal preference, but you could completely ignore them. For example, the Roll and Pitch PID's, you have Stabilize Roll PID, and Rate Roll PID. Generally, you don't need to touch Stabilize Roll PID. You only need to tune Rate Roll PID.
This is a pro/con thing. We give lots of customization for users, which is good if you want it. But if you don't want it, it can make it overwhelming.

Mark: Yes, start here.

When in Loiter the copter is not very locked in to its position?
Permalink Reply by Mark on January 12, 2013 at 3:07pm Chris I seem to have it pretty well dialed in however I am having trouble with simple mode.
My switch is configured 1 stablize 2 stabilize simple 3 position problem i have is when going from 1 to 2 simple works perfect but if I go from 3 to 2 the copter does not behave as it should

Mark: I'm not sure (I don't use Simple Mode). Please upgrade to 2.9 when it comes out this coming week and see if that sorts it out.
Permalink Reply by Mark on January 20, 2013 at 10:37am Chris are there any parameters that I can adjust to have the drone hold better in Position. When engaged the hold is not very steady and drifts around more than I would like.

Mark, are you using 2.9?
Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.43 members
