APM 2.6: Pls. Help: Battery low flashing LED

Hi, 

I have read a few posts about installing external LED's and more or less know how to do it and code it and its all fine for lets say I want to use a LED to indicate GPS lock etc.

Basically I would like to know how I can install strip LED on each arm of quad lets say 3 LEDs each and have them flash simultaneous when battery is low.  What would the wiring be like seeing that the output of the APM is only 5v.  I know/think it would be best to use power straight from li-po but how do I get the signal from APM to tell LEDs to flash?  Pls. point me in the right direction or some kind of diagram.

Well hope this make sense.

    Ok,  I know there's a lot of forums about this, so this is what I want to know and can't find the answer in any of them.

    This is what I found and think its the solution to what I want to do I am using an APM2.6, but......

    3701818982?profile=originalLest say I want to use A4 what pin (S) or (-) connects to #1 on the dip chip, I was thinking it should be the (S) seeing that its giving the signal but shouldn't there be (-) /ground going to the dip chip as well from A4.

    And another question can I connect 4 LED strips +/- 4 LEDs on each strip to only #18 on the dip chip. 

    It would be 12v LED strip from 4s battery.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

      Hi Daniel

      You are correct, you use the signal pin on A4.

      You can only use one channel on the ULN2803 to drive all the led strips if you wish. Just be aware that the ULN2803 has a 500mA current limit per channel so be careful not to exceed that or you will fry the chip. You will have to look at the current use of each of the LEDS.
