APM 2.6 Quad setup

Hello, I have recently set up my quad with the APM 2.6 flight controller. I have calibrated the compass, radio, and accel. Also, I even calibrated my escs to start at automatic start calibration.

The problem is that I can't start the motors when I plug the esc's to the flight controller. Currently I am running a 14.8V 4s battery that is connected to the power module. The main output connection separates to positive and negative connectors leading to each esc. The 5.3V output goes to power the flight controller.

I have the JR connector from each esc connected to the flight controller with power and ground wires cut so only the signal wire is connected to the output of the flight controller.

My understanding is that the main output from the power module powers all the esc's and motors while the flight controller is powered by the 5.3V output and outputs the signal to each esc.

I have successfully run the radio calibration with both my transmitter and receiver working properly. I just don't have any response from the motors when it's all connected.

Also, I have tested each esc and motor by connecting it directly to power and the receiver and each motor works fine.

Any help will be much appreciated.

  • In most cases you will need the ground line to your ESC's as well as the signal.
