If the PPM output of the AR7700 is similar to the 3DR PPM encoder, then I would connect it to the APM just as if it were the 3DR PPM encoder.
I am attaching a pdf file that provides instructions on how to attach a PPM encoded signal to the various 3DR flight controllers.
The Spektrum AR7700 Overview says that it is compatible with the APM2.6.
Make sure that the signal, power, and ground connections are the same from the APM to the receiver PPM output.
