apm loiter after mavlink lost

So I have been having this problem. I'm sorta new to apm. So what happens is that when I make a flight plan I would go into loiter mode if I lose the connection between apm and the mavlink. Has anybody encountered this ? i have the GSC failsafe off under the failsafe menu

  • thanks for the response guys. according to the logs it looks like it goes into failsafe CIRCLE . i only have RTL set up at with throttle failsafe. where is this setting for circle on failsafe

    CMD, 3, 2, 16, 1, 0, 30.48, 41., -71.
    CMD, 3, 3, 16, 1, 0, 30.48, 41., -71.
    MODE, 16786, Manual, 0
MSG, Failsafe - Short event on,
    MODE, 16787, Circle, 1
    MSG, flight mode = 1

  • i will try another mission but i saw my recorded video from the mission and about where i lost mavlink connection the plane went into a circle pattern. i thought i had lost the plane becuase it wasnt coming back until i switched it to RTL on the remote and it finally came back. i was relieved but couldnt understand why. i need to learn how to view the entire logs becuase the only log that i could find was the mavlink log which stopped when it lost connection. i know that there is also a flash log but i didnt know which one was which. i erased all my logs to make a new lfight this weekend and try to figure out the problem.

  • Hi,

If GCS failsafe is off, that shouldn't happen!

Are you sure it is loiter mode? APM will do something looking like a loiter after the mission is complete. It will fly in circles above the home pose. It isn't loiter (nor RTL) but the flight pattern is the same.
