APM not accepting Joystick Configuration

Hi all,

I have APM Mission Planner 1.2.3 using MAV 1.0 and am trying to configure the Joystick (Ref 1) to fly a Quad Rotor in 'X' configuration using APM 1.  However, I can't arm the motors -- I hit "Auto Detect" for the Rudder and assign it to one of the axes on my Logitech F310 Gamepad.  The assignment seems to take (the axis shows up in the "Controller Axis" column), yet when I push the joystick along the axis, nothing moves on the "Output" column for the rudder.

- This happens for "Rudder" and "CH 5" to "CH 8"

- This happens regardless of which axis I assign to Rudder, even the ones that work when assigned to Roll, Pitch or Throttle.

- On the Configuration-->Radio Calibration page the Roll/Pitch/Throttle inputs show movement when I move the axes, yet the 'Rudder' and channel inputs do not

- On the "Flight Data"-->"Status" tab, the Ch1in/Ch2in/Ch3in values change, yet the Ch4in-Ch8in values never change

Is there other debug I can turn up in order to troubleshoot? I did a search, but didn't come up with anything.
