APM Planner 2 Crashing Loads

I really need to good help and advice,

Ive got a pixhawk and im currently trying to set it up and am not having a great initial experience.

Ive downloaded APM Planner 2 onto two different PCs running window 7 home and get the exact same results on both.

I can connect to the pixhawk fine and the artificial horizon moves fine, ive calibrated the radio fine, but as soon as i try and change a Parameter or enable say the Airspeed sensor the application crashes out. Ive checked the event logs and it just points to the exe and gives no stack trace or anything interesting.

Ive tried updating the pixhawks firmware via APM Planner 2 and thats useless, it just does not work and says it failed after 5 connection attempts.

I then downloaded QGround Control which managed to update the firmware fine, but its not as easy to use as APM Planner 2 looks and when i enable the air speed sensor it does not ask what pin its connected to. If i come out of the software and go back in it has not saved the airspeed sensor as enabled.

  • Hi guys ive done some testing and have an update.

I downloaded Mission planner and it would not connect, tried unplugging the usb, powering via external battery ect but no joy. So i tried to connect with QGround Control and it connected fine. I then disconnected from QGround Control and loaded up Mission Planner and this time it connected. I then went into the setup wizzard and when it got to the point where it asks about the power module, it gave two message boxes reporting issues about Params being absent (unfortunately i did not save any screenshots). So i thought, lets try and flash it again to the latest firmware in Mission Planner (i had already done this in QGround Control that day). After updating the firmware, i was able to use the setup wizard fine, values could be changed without issue and i can now connect to the pixhawk via Mission Planner with out any issue.  Ive not tested connecting to APM Planner again yet but i suspect it will be fine now.

There nothing in AP2 that would cause it to not work as you exepecting. Can you post the log file from your home directory. It's in apmplanner2 sub dir.

Why not try Mission planner that's more mature.
