Iv been thinking. What happens when you're in the middle of a flight and your ESCs BEC kicks it.
All power to the APM is lost and so is your craft.
Even if you use a stand alone BEC, you suffer from the same problem.
Has anyone had a crash due to APM power failure?
My question is, which would be better?
1. Parallel up the power lines from 2 or 3 of your ESCs (eg Quad/Hex)
So if one dies, your APM doesnt.
2. Run a seperate 5v receiver battery with a diode to stop the BEC charging the battery.

One problem is that the FETs in the BEC sometimes fail wide open, sending full voltage to the board. Not sure how to protect that.
I'm wondering, why not just use an L7805 voltage regulator to power the APM (and only the APM). I picked one up, it's rated at 1A, which is plenty. The board and sensors only draw about 0.2-0.3A.
