ARDU OCTO is awesome!

Hey everyone, my first post here, been browsing around the last week or so while busy with my first ARDU build, and thanks to all the great posts and info here.

A little background, we've got a production company here in South Africa and I've been very keen to get into the whole aerial photo/video thing and agter seeing some amazing videos online of mostly Mikrokopters we decided to take the plunge and purchase our first Mikrokopter rig. I've been flying a little 450 Heli for a while so pretty decent at flying something and been building pc's since a very young age and have pretty much always been into electronics and building stuff.

We decided on Mikrokopter as it seemed to be the only real option (until our first crash and I came across the Ardu system) Our rig is a Droidworx AD-8 HL 360 + AV200 pro camera mount.

To cut a long story short, our first build went very well and had plenty great flights until our first crash, I knew it would happen and was about to order (very pricey) German replacements from MK when I though let me just check out this ARDU system and perhaps give it a try. I was lucky enough to find a local supplier who stocks the arduino systems and I got what I needed, after some lengthy research as always and was able to very successfully replace all the MK electronics with ESC and Ardu IMU + Mega 2580 board, the hardest part was figuring out how to get the code in OCTA mode as I could not find it ANYWHERE in the forum, I thought this post would help others who are also keen on Octa setups.

A simple copy and paste in the code to replace Quad with Octa and some minor code change here and there and I was ready! All working 100%

I've now done quite a few ULTRA stable test flights as well as sonar alt hold and all going perfect.

Here's a quick shot of our octa, again thnks for the info on this forum. Any other OCTA builders out there please give your input here so we can get a bit of a OCTA base going :)

Sweet! I think you're going to love 2.0.40. We've been flying it all day with quads with loiter, RTL and alt-hold and it's mind-blowingly good. Like it's on rails. Can't wait to see it on an octo.
