Ardupilot first flight - Easystar with Xbee and Telemetry - Having issue...

Ok, so the first flight went well. Stabilization mode works great, tested that 2nd. NE Test perfect. Then I takeoff and switch to enable autopilot, no crazy diving, plane turns east and then straightens out. And flys east. I try different entry angles, all it does is turn back east. I landed and read the waypoint file, all the waypoints look good. So whats going on, is the aircraft trying to return home, and not initializing the autopilot. ? Is the GPS somehow confused as to compass heading ? I have only a 2 switch setup, so I am not using a 3 switch setup. I did not modify the code at all so its default. Any ideas why its doing this, I do not have the ne code test enabled anymore, i checked that right away assuming it did not write the update to turn it off. Any help much appreciated..

This is my first post here. I have been using PAPARAZZI with success. I have two Ardupilots that I'm putting together. The green "168" board running 1.0 and a red one with shield that I want to run2.2.3.
Riccardo,
Am i missing something? You say "without gps connected (I had trouble with it. do you remember?)" Without gps connected to shield or board you are in fly-by-wire. Right? If you switch to Waypoint how is the autopilot going to know where it is and where it needs to go to get to waypoint 1? RTL has the same problem. Where am I, where is home, and how do I get there? With out gps connected Ardupilot is a good replacement for FMA Copilot and that is all. This is how I read the system

Joseph, in flight I use gps antenna. I disconnected it for ground test.
Sorry if I wasn't able to explain it clearly.
In flight my plane choose South direction from any position (respect home) and direction it is flying, both in rtl and waypoint mode.
Distance showed in the ground station is very important, something like a number that fill the box.

Ric
Have you checked ur waypoints is it really beacause of 0,0 waypoint..Just confirm it if its the case.
