Refering to quick manual

I tried to configure my Arduplane for Bixler using 2 ailerons.

I added the 2nd aileron on ch5 but it seems my ch1 output is broken as it gets no signal (ch5 is ok)

I see both channels working in APM so there has to be something on the board.

Is there any way I can test ch1 or can I change ch1 to ch6 ?

I do know I have to build code with Aruino IDE but I do not yet know where to change preset ch1 to ch6

Best regards

Ok, on APM 1.0 , there is a mux chip that ouputs channels 1-4, so you damaged that chip. It's surface mount on the red ardupilot board, so you can replace it, or just replace the whole $65 board. I wouldn't fly with a damaged chip, even if I could change the output channels because 2-4 might fail in flight. Again, Fix the board, don't fly with flakey hardware. Also, there is a difference in update rate and performance when using different pins. 1-4 are optimized from a hardware and software perspective. I'm not saying you cannot do it (change channels), but just fix the board.

On the picture below, the IC next to the word OUPUTS is the one that failed.

Hello!

Thx for your answer.

I am not sure this unit is 100% - it can be damaged as I got it from a friend. I think I will order the latest version instead with the more powerful Atmel chip. Hopefully the oilpan is still OK - nothing indicates any damages

(I see graph movements in APM)

Once again - thx.

I got the new ArdupilotMega today and soldered on the headers.

Downloaded the latest code and configure according to quick guides and manuals for 2ailerons

At least now it is working...partially.

The aileron on ch5 is OFF in manual mode

The aileron on ch5 is ON in LEVEL mode

The aileron on ch5 is ON in RTH mode

Why is it turned on or off depending on selected MODE?

I will try a simple Y connector to the ailerons to see if they go the correct way - only to get some progress

I downloaded the PARAM.file for Bixler but it seems strange - it barely moves the rudder at all when I move the boards around, other channels give more outputs.

I tested with a simple Y-cable (stockBixler) and it works just fine - will ahve to adjust the linkage a bit instead but it will be fine.

I hope I can do maiden tests with Arduplane this weekend.
