Hi Chris,

I have a 3 Ardupilot Mega setups, If I want to upgrade the 1280 processor's to 2560's, can I go ahead and replace the device's. I see that they are pin compatable from the data sheet.

I used to manufacture and repair smd printed circuit boards and still have all of my equipment, so changing devices is no problem.

Absolutely. They're totally pin-compatible and the Mission Planner will autodetect which one you've got. Just plug and play replacement. I have a bunch of both boards and don't even pay attention to which one I'm using--it doesn't matter.

Thank you, this is great news.

Keep up the good work.

Chris I have 3 of the APM1.4 1280 red boards and 3 IMUs. Actually 4 but that one is in a tree somewhere :)

Can I send in the 1280 boards to change the chip to the 2560 so I can run the latest MP since it only supports the 2560 now.One is brand new and never had the headers soldered on.

If not is there another way of loading the latest ardupilot or arducopter on the 1280 boards?

Hello,

Yes there is. You can use arduino IDE to upload the firmware to your APM1 1280.
