      We were all beginners once so I know how it feels but it really is to your benefit to learn, the curve may be steep but the result will totally be worth it. It sounds harsh but shortcuts will not help you ATM.

      There are so many things that are probably wrong, but if the motors run as soon as you plug it in then the ESC's are seriously connected wrong, but even so the ESC's by themselves should not turn the motors until they receive a valid signal from the receiver/APM. (Unless the motors are brushed motors perhaps but I don't know?)

      The Arducopter system then also has to pass multiple checks and has to be armed through the transmitter/Mission Planner before the motors will turn.

      So you'll have to go through the setup Wiki to work through each of the steps from scratch to find out what is wrong.

      Another option is to post photos of your installation showing the wiring and connections, maybe one of us will see the mistake.

      The guys who sold it to you should actually sort it out as I presume it's supposed to be a working quad (I presume it's a quad as you haven't said)

    It matters not that it flew with a Pixhawk you have in reality a new machine. Start here http://copter.ardupilot.com/ to everything from the first setup step.

    vpm = APM btw

    Never plug in the autopilot without TX on, always take the props off when changing settings.

  • Hi Thanks for you reply
    I would just like to say first of all that I am a complete newbe to this and unlike yourself am not all clued up on the proper terminology for the different parts. I am on a steep learning curve from flying a hubsan toy to building and flying a more professional quad so please cut me a little slack

    I bought this aurducopter 3dr from a company that specialise in fly quad for their work. I see it fly but when they gave it to me it was partly dismantled and they had taken off the pichawk and supplied arducopter vpm. They help me put the new version on and soldered XT60 on battery for me but when plugged in the motor ran with out the transmitter even on. We check all connection were correct and run through set up on mission planner and even tried another power module but still the same.
    It might be something so simple but as I said as a novice I am baffled.
    They are contacting their tech team in London but I thought I might see if any one out there could help.
    Thanks for the wiki link very helpful
    Regards
    Mike

    Mike, your post is not clear - a 3DR what? What is a VPM (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VPM)? How can you change a Pixhawk (flight controller) to Arducopter (Autopilot system)?  Have you done the setup as described in the Wiki. Have you even read the Wiki?

    Sorry but your post seems to imply that you have some sort of basic problem but have done nothing to try find out what the problem is or even use/learn the correct terminology. You'll get a lot more assistance if you try a bit to isolate and be specific about the problem. Same goes for your other post.

    It's like saying "I have a car, it makes noises and won't work, has anyone had this problem?"
