I was thinking that one cool project I'd like to make is an autonomous sailboat.
Actually an autonomous landsailer, but the concept is the same, since it's more a yacht than a car.

But to steer a sailboat you need to trim the sails and keep the boat at a constant angle with the wind: GPS are little (if none) use and gyros might be good to understand when it is going to capsize, but otherwise it's useless.

But I didn't find any wind direction sensor that can be mounted to a model boat, not even the 1m boat. They are too big and heavy.

Does someone have experience with that kind of things? Do you think it is feasible?

Thanks
Simone
