I finally got my Bixler in the mail and started testing the parts out and putting it together. It looks like there's a fairly large nose weight in it. Does it make sense to remove it sine I'm going to be adding a fair bit of weight in the cockpit? I'd rather figure that out before gluing the two halves together.

The chassis came with magnets, but I wasn't sure those were such a good idea.
yes, I don't trust the magnets... velcro works great. I just maiden my Bixler this morning. I will post a blog soon. I'm currently working on video montage and will also add some photos showing equipment installation.
Agreed John. My next project is to install the AirSpeed Sensor on the chassis.
Unlike your setup, I placed the GoPro as far in Front of the Bixler so the Gopro can be as near as possible of the CG of the plane i.e. as low as possible. Banking become quite difficult the higher the GoPro is located above the CG. The Gopro is not protected but smaller in size. With this setup I had to add (3 washers coming from the kit pre-glued on the nose) and stick them as far on the tail, making sure you don't obstruct elevator controls. To obtain CG at wing spare.
forgot to mention that a 2.6 maH Lipo is located just behind the chassis under the wing using good old velcro. Not very safe if you want to execute some acrobatics... for me until APM have Acrobatics Mission Scripting... I'm safe ;)
That how I have my apm2 setup with the receiver in the bottom portion. However, I have my servos placed in the tail and elevetor and ran a extenstion cable through the middle with special hatches so the plane has clean look. So my CG is normal with battery placement in the nose. I can see useing weights in the back but you don't want a tail dragger. Your plane can bank and there goes all the work you put in to it. I finishing glassing a new fuselage and will see how this performs.

I understand you want to buy everything at HK. In that case why not order 2x Kits, servos, and a good ESC 25 amps minimum. ....and shop for motors maybe... here. RimeFire I would vote for a RimeFire 300. had some experience with .10 and .46. Expensive but the quality is A+.

Yesterday while flying with the Bixler stock motor, APC6x4E prop and the recommended HK 20 amp Fixed Wing ESC, the ESC caught fire. My motor stopped, my craft came down, and I had black smoke coming out of the craft. Luckily I got it out and away from everything before it did too much damage. It did melt my fuselage a bit and the LIPO's wrapper is melted and the battery's puffy so I'm going to trash it.
