In APM1/APM2 I see that a flash memory chip is used for black box functionality. I see that EEPROM memory is also available in same package and same interface(i.e. SPI. etc.). In that case I was wondering that why did the APM team decide to use flash instead of EEPROM. The reason this struck me is EEPROM can be erased more number of times then flash. Doesn't that make eeprom more suitable for this?

Thanks
