Hi,
I have been using the camera gimbal for a while now. I noticed the addition of the new camera tab in APM so decided to play with it. As soon as I changed the roll trim, roll stopped working. If i change the roll trim, the servo moves, however if I tilt the copter the gimbal stays wherever I trimed it to.
I have checked the servos and also swapped around the APM2 outputs just to check. Servo works fine, Pitch working fine, roll fails to roll yet changing trim moves the servo.
Any ideas?
Regards,
James

No luck here unfortunately. Reverse and unreverse didn't help. Thanks for the quick response though!

Permalink Reply by Mike Boland on July 4, 2012 at 10:01pm This is a timely addition as I have just built the roll/tilt gimbal and was about to start learning to fine tune it.
BUT
plugged in the servos and all worked well except the tilt was reversed.
Easy I thought, there is a reversing check box, unchecked that (they were both checked as default) and tilt stopped working.
Made sure everything was hooked up correctly, still nothing, although trim worked, changed servo centre position as expected.
Checked the reverse check box and it was working again but still in reverse to what I need. :-(
So I unchecked the reverse check box on roll and sure enough, it stopped working as well.
So it seems that any change in the reverse check box stops the channel from working.
Did a reboot of the APM1 board but still the same.
Great addition to the Planner, so I hoping this bug is nailed soon.
Permalink Reply by James Roney on July 4, 2012 at 11:43pm Yeah, reboot/disconnect etc doesn't seem to help. Interesting that you are all suffering from tilt and I am suffering from roll with my apm2.
Permalink Reply by Andrew Radford on July 5, 2012 at 7:27am Bug fix on the way, in the mean time the workaround is to set the parameter in the parameter list tab. Not reversed servos pitch or roll should have the reverse parameter set to -1, as in the wiki here:
Permalink Reply by Mike Boland on July 5, 2012 at 3:16pm Thanks, that does the trick and gets it working.
Seems the new page writes a zero to that parameter for unreversed and displays reversed when the parameter is 1.
Just a note: if you use the gimbal page to change any servo values if you have any servos unreversed, then you will also need to reset that value in the parameter list when done.
this should be fixed now
Permalink Reply by James Roney on July 7, 2012 at 10:20pm I can confirm this is now working ok again. Thanks Michael and or course all the rest of the diyposters!
Permalink Reply by Andreas Breitenstein on July 24, 2012 at 11:30pm Hi Guys,
We have been using this feature for a couple of flights now and have the following problem with it.
I am using roll only, with the servo connected to output "CH-6" and this is assigned to roll the camera in the Mission Planner.
If I switch on the APM (APM 1.4 running the latest 2.4 firmware) sometimes it works as expected.
Sometimes however it will be reversed? I then change the direction in the Parameter list and it works well again. Then during the flight it will reverse itself.
On some occasions, the gimbal will react to pitch and the roll stops working altogether.
When I then assign the gimbal to "pitch" in the mission planner, it will react to "roll" for a while. When it stops working on roll and will again work on roll?
I am a little lost as to what it could be that is changing these setting by themselves.
Please Help.
