Can't calibrate radio with APM2
If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it. This is my first quad.
I calibrated the ESCs one at a time and verified the motors are controllable individually with the radio.
Connecting it to the APM2, nothing happens though. I connect to the PC and the radio calibration doesn't show any input. The bars for all the channels stay grey.
When I try to calibrate and click done the ESCs start beeping...which I guess makes since since calibration never happened.
In CLI mode, it gives me a warning that the radio needs to be set up, but when I enter radio setup, it just hangs at "Radio Setup:" and says nothing else.
Any idea what's going on? Attached are a couple of pics to show how I'm connected to my AR8000.
The transmitter values are at default for helis.
Also when I go into CLI mode, I get the weird characters in one of the attached pictures
I checked the Rx PWM signal with an oscilloscope and the Rx does increase the PWM signal correctly.
CLI test mode for PWM just gives 0s for everything

EDIT: I just read, and learned, that on that Rx the signal is on the bottom.
Maybe I'm missing something here, since I don't have that Tx/Rx but isn't the signal pin on the Rx the top pin??
In the top picture it looks like you are using the bottom pin. Again, I'm not sure if it's different on that Rx, but maybe not??

Again, I have the same receiver and validated the pinouts. On that one, the pins closest to the label are gound, the middle pin is always power, and the bottom pin is signal. He's got that part correct. NOTE: THE PICURE ONLY SHOWS THROTTLE CONNECTED.

Don't worry. It's a problem with the forum. It's still using an oldskool threaded-style mode. Makes things damn hard to follow, so you just have to defeat it by always replying to the last post or the first post.

What was the end result of this David? I had a board that was working just fine with an AR8000 randomly stop working mid flight test tonight. I caught it on video, the motors were spinning then randomly you hear the ESC's start to beep and I lost throttle input.
Upon subsequent reboot the ESC's just beep over and over. I get the same behavior that you do in the input screen, grey bars in the ArduCopter radio config menu.

Drone, according to their email, the problem with mine was the 32u2 chip which required replacing the whole board.
The new board works fine.

Considering that the 32u2 now handles the PPM output, that would make sense. The beeping is because the ESC's never got signal from the 32u2. :(
Here is a video of my failure occurring for those that are curious.
