This is my first build and as the title says, I am not able to establish a MAVlink connection. I connected the APM2.0 to my windows7 machine and COM4 was assigned. Opened mission planner and flashed the firmware for quad. Then I hit connect. The connection status popup countsdown from 28 and fails with the error message "No heartbeat received". When I hit terminal, I am able to connect to the APM2.0 board. I did erase the EEPROM to test the connection.
Initially, the blue LEDs (on GPS and on APM) were blinking and the red LED on APM was blinking. But now the red LED is off, the blue LED on GPS board is blinking and the blue LED on the APM board is solid.
I tried to retrieve log files from APM board but it doesn't have any log files. Any help would be appreciated.

It failed at this point with the message "Your serial link isn't fast enough". I have attached and image of the error details. Also, I installed mission planner using the 64bit installer.
