Having a problem with my new APM 2 board. I have installed mission planner as per instructions and that went fine. I then plug in my APM 2 vie a usb cable and it says cant find driver,so i manually look for the driver in the device manager browser window and find the folder marked driver. This folder wont open but it allows me to click ok so that is the location the computer is pointing to to search for the driver. I then click next and it says "Hardware not install as windows cant find software". The strange thing is if I look for it on my computer and look in the driver folder the driver Inf file is visible there. This happens on the 3 PCs i have triad it on with the same result every time.

The board gives a blinking blue light that goes solid after a while and a solid green light.I have also downloaded the driver individually with the same outcome. I have DirectX and .net framework installed so its not and issue with them i dont think.

I am running windows xp and have also tried it on a vista computer and a windows 7 computer. In the device manager it is shown as a yellow ?

I have also been over the soldering with a magnifying glass and that all looks in order so really scratching my head now as to whats wrong.

Running off Usb power but have also tried with esc BEC and

Any advice would be much appreciated please.

Hi Darren,

sorry to hear you are still having problems with this I have run out of ideas BUT I'm sure that the guys on here will have an answer for you very soon as they should know what is wrong, as with out the software running your APM2 is about as good as a chocolate Fire Gard.

SO come on guys please help him out and get him into the air :-)

Yes that is the one I have tried.
Maybe a fried board? Email customer support from the store you bought it from.

What can I do about this then. The web site I ordered it from here in the UK was Cool Components and on the site it says.

Qoute

Returns for any unaffected development board, programmer, tools, and cables permitted within 7 days from the date of receipt of merchandise. After such time, all sales are considered final. Returns of incorrect ordered items are allowed subject to a 10% restocking fee. What is unaffected? If you hooked it to power, you affected it. To be clear, this includes items that have been soldered to, or have had their firmware changed. Because of the nature of the products we deal with (prototyping electronic tools) we cannot allow returns of items that have been programmed, powered up, or otherwise changed post shipment from our warehouse"

Gutted as I only receved  it a week ago and since then have been trying to connect it to the computer.I have mailed the company and they replied asking for a link to the drivers,so I have done this but thats as far as I have got with them. After reading there returns policy I dont think I am going to get a exchange though. If it comes to it can I buy a new V2 IMU on its own so at least I can use the shield ?

Darren,

Even though the sale is final Cool Components should still give you after sales support, keep at them and get them to help you, they rely on good feedback from communities like this.

They can't just sell you the product and then walk away, after sales service is part of what you have paid them for.

Just an update. I have sent it back to the seller in the uk and they agree it's faulty after testing but have said they need to speak to the manufacturer to find out if they can replace it or send it to them for repair. I don't understand why as I purchased it from the uk shop so I thought the issue was there's to deal with not the manufactoter. I am waiting for them to get back to me now. Hope it doesn't have to be sent back as it has not been used due to the fault since I got it and am itching to try this great board out.
Thanks for the help though guys.
Just an update to let everyone know it was repaired buy 3D robotics and now is working well. Got it in the air on stabalize mode and will be trying out others in due time.
