Hi all,

I am configuring my Skyartec Skyfun with APM and Oilpan. I have the system set up so all channels operate correctly in manual flight mode (APM not engaged) but as soon as I switch to stabilise or FBW, although the APM responds correctly in terms of stabilisation, my r/c channels become horribly confused and my pitch and roll channels switch (left/right stick becomes pitch and up/down stick becomes roll). It reverts to correct sense as soon as I disengage APM.

Any help appreciated,

Rup

We show the correct Skyfun configuration in the manual. Are you using that?
Hi Chris,

Thanks for your fast response.

Yes, I am using sample config shown here : http://ardupilot-mega.googlecode.com/svn/ArduPilotMegaImages/elevons.jpg

I think I have solved it. Initially, I re-used an old profile in my Airtronics / Sanwa RDS8000 radio. I have reset the profile and built from scratch and it's fine. I think there was an incorrect parameter buried somewhere in one of the menus.

Again, thanks for your help - always appreciated.

Rupert,

I also have strange stuff happen with my APL board using my RDS8000.  This radio is new to me and I was working great w/the Spektrum radio, but now I get real strange stuff happening when I engage my AP.  It does stabilize but everything is over the top.  How's your setup running? Any advise for setting up the radio? Im using the default first model.

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Brian,

Apologies for the delayed reply. I used the stock airplane settings on my RDS8000. Even though I fly a delta model (Hobbyking Skyfun) all the elevon mixing is done by the APM. The dip-switch configuration did change though from version 1.0 to 2.0. The L->R settings are now: Down-Up-Down-Up for the Skyfun.

Sounds like some of the PID values may be too high with your setup and the APM is over-deflecting the control surfaces.

Hope this helps,

Rup

Rup, Thanks that does help. I had reset everything back to the defaults and that made a big improvement. Still has some deflection on the elevator when I engage the AP and the setting is as low as I can get it. Discovered the hard way that you can not set that "P" value to 0. So I'm trying .001 which almost has no deflection. I just do not know where else to look to keep that from giving a little up on engage. I'll try some more on the Trim setting and hopefully get it to null.

Thanks
