Dany , I have seen your website today and I will order from it soon, my big issue now is moving forward or waiting for the new APM 2 to be available. I am test flying my new own designed aircraft but its not yet ready for the Autopilot for a few weeks.

We are in Quebec so no HST for us!! yet !

I also want to build a plane for a friend in England and send it to him complete, ready to use. That is why I need to know if I will face any problems.

Yep!  I am from Quebec too... well now I live in Mississauga but spent my life in Quebec! :) 

You get only a nice 5% taxes from me! 

As for your "export" question, you'll understand that I cannot really answer your 100%, Rules to export "GPS navigation capable" and "autonomous flight patterns" things are really against you there...  I would not try it myself!

I think I will post him the aircraft and radio system (without the APM  etc. and then let him come and visit for a couple of weeks!  sounds easier.

Quebec is good but the flying season is short, the birds dont fly at -20 I dont see why I should.

@ Hotseat,  your reply to @Dave is not actually correct.  There are still export controls on assembled autopilots.

That is why 3DRobotics until very recently did not sell the actual ArduPilot... you had to order that from Sparkfun who had an export license for autopilot equipt.

But luckily we now have Dany Thivierge on this side of the border to take care of the red tape and paperwork for us!

I remember years back when the AUVSI Student UAV Competition was hosted in Calgary.

A few teams made it across the border with their aircraft before one know-it-all official twigged on the fact that these were no mere RC planes, they were actual UAVs, and confiscated several teams' entries.

That was a mess that added to poor weather, high winds, and terrible RF interference problems to make for a "memorable" year for the competition.

My second job is programming avionics, and we get full size autopilot components in all the time.

 

Maybe we have some kind of license or something?

So do the "rules" tell us that we can ship some parts but not all together, or am I missing something ?

I thought USA and Canada had a free trade agreement. !

Free trade agreements relate to eliminating tariffs and other economic impediments to commerce, not to protecting military secrets.

 

Again, Dany would know more about the regs than I... he's done the paperwork.
