I was wondering if there was a facility in mission planner way point editor to face a specified GPS coordinate when my quad reached a way point and then I could trigger a camera shot.

I'm not sure I understood your question correctly, but I think you're referring to what's called "Region of Interest" or ROI. You can see a tutorial on how to have the camera/vehicle point at a ROI (in this case, as part of a 3D mapping mission) here.
Yes... This appears to be exactly what I was looking for.
It would be a nice feature if Mission Planner had the to set the ROI and then use the CIRCLE Waypoint generator to automatically calculate a circle around that ROI for use in Real Estate Aerial Photography.
