Faulty pixhawk(s)

Hi

I'm on my second pixhawk right now (first one had a faulty mpu6000 from day one which recently died completly) so i bought a new one to replace it.

Second pixhawk does power up just fine, no problems whatsoever, for first 15-20s or so.

After about 15-20s the blue I/O ACT LED stops flashing and does not recover - only way of making it recover is completly power cycle the board (I/O reset button does not do anything).

That is with nothing connected to the pixhawk and it happens with supply from USB and battery (my first pixhawk does work fine with same power sources - except for dead mpu6000).

Supply voltage is 4.98V and the 3.3V on one of the testpoints is at 3.2953V before and after LED stops flashing.

Any ideas what could it be and any ways of fixing it?

  • Hi

    I've done more testing and it looks like U1002 - MIC5332 is shutting down for some reason on my pixhawk, voltage directly at the input to the MIC5332 is 4.65V when it's running and 4.70V after it shuts down (this is after the D1001 diode).

    Voltage drop at D1001 diode is 230mV when it's running and 200mV after it shuts down - so it's not shutting down because of overload.

    Output voltage from VOUT2 after power up is at 3.2815V and after it shuts down it goes down to 2.35-2.36V

    Output voltage from VOUT1 after power up is at 3.2812V and 0V after it shuts down.

    Everything seems to be pointing to another faulty MIC5332.

    @Jacek,

    Are your Pixhawks genuine 3DR products or clones?
