First repairs - jittering motor?

Hey, I am trying to learn everything I need to know on my own but now I need some advice, any help is appreciated.

My first issue is that my battery alarm goes off too late, which caused my first major crash as my Storm racing quadcopter lost responsiveness mid-flight and ended up snapping one of the arms. I would blame the battery but it is brand new (the quad and other batteries are second hand). Is this just a bad alarm? Are they programmable?

I replaced the arm and tested in my back garden, it starts up and will hover but one of the motors (not the one that was from the broken arm) seems to be stuttering, making the whole drone vibrate and veer slowly off course occasionally. I checked it out for any physical signs of damage and with a torch noticed some dirt had gotten inside the motor from the crash, after cleaning this though the problem remains.

Also when powering down that motor keeps spinning at minimal power for about ten seconds the first couple of times I tried it but then this stopped which implies an electrical issue beyond my amateur understanding.

When I get home the only thing I can think to do to troubleshoot is to swap the wires from one motor to the next to see if the jittering swaps to the new motor, other than that I am a bit stumped.
