Ok so I have the range video 1.3G fpv system. I started off putting it in a wild hawk (easystar clone) with 2.4G radio gear.

It crashed when I added the fpv gear and powered it up.

I thought the vid tx and the plane rx were too close so I built a new plane based on
Tims boombox. This gave me more than 15" of separation between tx and rx

Plane flew great till I added the vid tx and again short range issues and it crashed.

I got the 1.3G system since it's supposed to work with 2.4G radios. Anyone have any suggestions?

Firstly always do range checks with and without the video tx switched on, a good system will show little difference.

I would also switch the R/C rx, which are you using? can you switch to 72mhz maybe?

How powerful is the video TX?

The video TX could be introducing noise many ways, twisting all cables, adding chokes & having neat organised cabling always helps.

I could possibly be more help if I could see some pics :)

Here's a couple pics of the plane before the crash.

the rx is in the rear of the fuse with the Ant one on each side. theres more than 15" between the tx and rx ant.

Vid tx ant and Camera location.

the Vid tx, vid tx lipo, and motor lipo.
I am using the Corona 2.4g Hack mod in my JR XP6102 radio. I have had no problems with this system. I was going to use the Turnigy tx with Corona plug in mod but it seems the trainer port isn't compatible with a JR radio. I can switch to 72mHz I have a synthesized rx I can add to the plane but I wanted it on 2.4g due to some interference we have at the airport from some underground power lines. I am hoping the synthesized rx will help with this.

This may not directly address your RFI interference, but over at rcgroups they have data which shows that the "knuckle" on those stock antennae are really "leaky". I replaced mine with larger 3rd party solid rubber duckies. (and got a db upgrade as well!)

Max asked about the output of your video TX... what is it?

Like Max pointed out... range testing, (esp with other equipt turned on as well) is an absolute must!!
sorry I meant to add that, its 300mW on the tx

and we did range test, unfortunately with the hack mod there isn't a range test mode, we had to walk out several hundred feet and test. the first test showed signal loss and we rearranged the rx Ant's. and were glitch free, at the range we were testing at.

I will look into replacing the tx Ant if that's the case on them. it is a crappy joint as I have had to epoxy the plastic threads cause it kept popping off. any info on a good place to find a replacement 1.3g ant?

thanks
Jon
