FPV Kit?

Can anyone recommend a FPV kit that's safe to use with the APM 2 board?  I've been doing some research and there is so many components out there that I'm not sure what works and what doesn't and I don't want to have to rebuild my setup half a dozen times.

Quad/Hex/Octa-copter or plane?

What range are you expecting? (1-2km is a good starting point)

What gear do you already have?

Putting on a plane (Foamaroo)  and as of right now I haven't bought any gear yet.

Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.
