Hi together,

i want to use a D4R-II together with APM2, PPM and RSSI are no problem. What i want to connect as well is

the serial port of RX and APM2 to send compressed GPS information over the FrSky data downlink to my antenna tracker. in principle i have that working, currently with an arduino pro mini evaluating an attached GPS sensor, compressing the GPS data and sending it over the downlink. So tweaking arducopters software to do that as well will be no big deal. I use NewSoftSerial with the arduino as it provides the inverted TTL signal, that is expected from the FrSky RX.

Question now is:

1) Can FastSerial in Arducopter 2.6 somehow be used for generating an INVERTED TTL signal?

2) Which Pins/Port should i use on the APM2 to connect the FrSky RX serial port?

Thanks!!!

Well, i did not flash anything new to the d4r-II. Bought it roughly two month ago. CPPM is definitly on C1.

looks right.

What do you mean direct antenna?

3 miles?  That's awesome.

So you've got a full-size antenna on the Rx?  Very interesting!  Two, or just one?  I've got lots of room for that on my big heli.

Yeah i have full-size antenna on the one side. The old cable just pops off and then you just click the other cable in. then mount to where you want to. The other one just little black antenna I didn't want to move the paste from it since it might be a different connection type.

Yes, I've also been curious what's under the paste, because I would like to do something with the little black wire since it does affect GPS performance.

If it was the same connection I would yank that cable out and put another rp-sma antenna somewhere on the plane. Since I have the new 3dr gps hopefully the lock will stay and not get bad performance.

Maybe I'll pull off the paste, and if it's not a connector, I'll just put a dab of hotglue on.

I suspect that there is no connector, and it's simple a piece of wire soldered to a pad, and the paste is strain relief for the solder blob.

Zachary, Thank you so much!!! Binding it without the jumper has it responding on the radio calibration screen but now I have a new problem, my modes were set to a 3 way switch and a 2 way switch and now the 3 way does noting. Did the same happen to yours?

That must be in your Tx, nothing to do with the Rx.

Guys, I managed to get my D4R-II up and running without too much trouble.  I was able to bind in CPPM mode, etc. no problem at all.  The only issue was I had though the CPPM was coming out of Ch2 like on the D4FR.  Once I fixed that, no problem.
