FrSky inverted TTL APM2

Hi together,

i want to use a D4R-II together with APM2, PPM and RSSI are no problem. What i want to connect as well is 

the serial port of RX and APM2 to send compressed GPS information over the FrSky data downlink to my antenna tracker. in principle i have that working, currently with an arduino pro mini evaluating an attached GPS sensor, compressing the GPS data and sending it over the downlink. So tweaking arducopters software to do that as well will be no big deal. I use NewSoftSerial with the arduino as it provides the inverted TTL signal, that is expected from the FrSky RX.

Question now is:

1) Can FastSerial in Arducopter 2.6 somehow be used for generating an INVERTED TTL signal?

2) Which Pins/Port should i use on the APM2 to connect the FrSky RX serial port?

I don't know but with mine the 2 stage switch still works but the 3 stage doesn't. It's driving me nuts that I can't seem to get it to work again. I've ordered a Smartie Parts board so I can change the firmware before I go crazy.

APM cannot do inverted serial as it will require too much CPU power but there are another choices. We have been working some time with jDrones IOBoard and it will have MAVLink support in few days. After that we plan to extend it's software and that extension includes FrSky protocol output. 

Originally IOBoard was meant to drive all your LEDs/LED Strips/Sound devices and so on. You can look more from IOBoard blog post that we made awhile back. 

We are finalizing it's configurator program now and then software will be released for it.

I am ordering a smartieparts board for my Turnigy.  I've got the FRsky module and receiver.  Do I need a FrSky Telemetry hub or can I connect the jDrones IOboard directly to the uart port on the receiver ?

I haven't attempted this yet because someone mentioned the frsky telemetry signal made interference with the on board gps.   I have my receiver mounted on the side of the apm 2.0 board,    should i move it ?

I'll make the ER9x Frsky internal display mod as soon as i get my smartieparts board.

Let us know when you start displaying telemetry data!  This really sounds cool!

No, you won't need the hub.  The idea is to skip the hub, and get the data directly from the APM. 

I have lots of the telemetry Rx mounted all over the place without too many issues.  The only one that causes an issue is the APM2-All-In-One that I built where the Rx is DIRECTLY mounted on the APM2 with a short antenna wire, RIGHT beside the GPS.

But otherwise I have no problems with GPS and the FrSky Rx.

That's good to hear.  I thought the apm 2.0 with onboard gps was affected too.

No need for HUB, IOBoard will output all hub protocols directly to your transmitters telemetry port.

  The code I'll be looking for will be Mavlink -> FrSky for the JIOBoard right ?  No need for APM code?

Where can I get the small connector for the FrSky reciever ? is Hobbyking the only source ?
