Hi Guys

Been browsing around the net a lot.

Do you think this antenna will work with the MT GPS

As soon as I switch on the RC RX the GPS signal drops, was wondering if this would solve the problem.

Hennis,

According to Chris Anderson 3D Robotics is coming out with a new uBlox GPS receiver that is superior to anything presently available from 3D Robotics. Price and expected availability is still to be announced.

That will be great.

Also just saw, the version of the MT3329 we have on the APM2 does not have the external antenna connection, only Data + and DATA Minus.

Thanks Thomas will go have a look at 3DR

I have found different data sheets for the GPS on the APM.  Some say it will handle an external antenna, and some say its data + and data -.  Does anyone know for sure.  I have the antenna suggested which I planned to solder onto the GPS.  Any one have any ideas on this?

Rick

Maybe these would help.

So this is basically my problem.  2 Datasheets with conflicting information.  Would someone from DIYDrones, or 3DR know the proper answer to this?  Cheers,

Rick

Move your RX farther away from the GPS. Even a few inches will make a dramatic difference.

I have tried. It is about 3cm below the APM2 and 5 cm from the side. I was thinking of screening (shielding) the APM2 from the RX side. I have a DJI F450. See attached.

I have *never* had a problem with my RX affecting my GPS on this quad.

It might be cheapest just to get a better RX unit.  I don't have any problem with the stock 9X module, and they don't get any cheaper than that!  So I think you probably just have a crap RX.

I have a brand new JR 6 channel DMSS RX, the latest and greatest.

I hope you find a simple solution and the RX turns out to be OK.  But just because it's new and expensive doesn't mean that it's not total crap.  History is filled with the wreckage of cutting edge, super expensive solutions that turned out in retrospect to be total crap.

If you find out that the RX is putting out interference make sure to post about it so others can avoid it.  There's really no excuse for a RX to be interfering with anything else.

Hi Jake, I played around with the APM2 a lot this weekend, and I found that the wires coming from the RX to the APM2 was causing the interference. I have a plastic box where the APM2 is mounted in, and that cables were running along side the board, I moved the cables to the front and now it gets SAT's again.

I was thinking I should put ferret rings on the cables coming from the RX, just don't now if I should put one over all or one on each.
