GPS Cable

I'd appreciate help on connecting 3DR GPS unit to Pixhawk controller. I recently purchased a used quadcopter built by the previous owner--and I've taken it apart, and noticed something that didn't look right.

3DR GPS/Compass (Mag) unit   (GPS socket has 6 pins)

3DR Pixhawk (GPS socket has 6 pins)

The cable he had hooked up has 6 pins on the GPS end, and only 5 pins on the Pixhawk end, leaving one pixhawk pin without a connection. Do I need to purchase a 6pin to 6pin cable?

I unhooked the 5-pin end from the Pixhawk without seeing which pins he had the cable on. Do I plug in this cable as far to the right edge, or as far to the left edge of the GPS socket as I can (Should the far right pin be left without a connection, or the far left pin)?

The quadcopter worked how he had it hooked up, but I doubt this is the "proper" way to do it.

Thanks,

Taylor

    @Taylor,

    Your friend was probably using the 3DR GPS/Compass with an APM2.5/6 which requires a five pin to six pin connector/cable with the 5 pin end at the APM and the 6 pin end at the GPS/Compass.

    To use the 3DR GPS/Compass with your Pixhawk you will have to have a 6 pin to 6 pin connector/cable as the Pixhawk requires a 6 pin connector at its GPS port.
