GPS Lock

This may be a simple question however, I have the MediaTek 3329 and have uploaded the firmware. Once I do this, can I plug it into the APM 2.5 and expect a GPS lock? How long does this take? If this isnt the correct way, how can I accurately get a gps fix?

Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.
