I have an APM 2 and the GPS functionality is not working at all. The blue 3d fix light never comes on, solid or blinking.

When I run gps in test from the CLI i get G! G! G!

The board is brand new and has never been flown, does anyone have any suggestions?

It's almost like it is just not reading the whole top board. Have inspected the header connection but it all seems to be ok. Pretty stumped.

Have you tried testing for 5v at the supply pins on the shield? They are the two pins on the opposite side of the board to the header connection, Vcc is next to C9. Might be a bad solder joint there.

I am a little confused by what you mean by the other side of the board from the header connection. Do you mean the 5v supply pin on the GPS module or one of the pins on the header between the main AMP2 board and the daughter board?

I think I may have had an epiphany. I bought my APM2 as a kit so I soldered the headers myself, and I think I have left some out between the main board and the daughter board. Do you have to solder the GND and VCC pins between these two or is the header all the connection that is required?

Sorry to flood this forum with my thinking out loud but I am pretty sure that this issue will be resolved when I actually solder the supply pins.

Silly me :)

Hi Luc

I had a simalar problem to you with the APM 2 it was to do with the 6 pins not soldering the connectors properly on the top GPS board (my fault), after I had re-done the connectors all worked fine.

Andy

Yeah, it seems it is just my error in not soldering those pins at all. I will find out later when I finish work.

Luc,

Yes, no power is supplied via the 6 pin header, it is supplied via a Vcc and gnd pin on the opposite side of the daughter board. But it sounds like you may have got that all sorted out. Sorry for late answer, we must be opposites on time zone :) Good luck.

Soldered those pins and got it flying last night. Need to upgrade my motors though, cheap $25 for a set of 4 shake like a washing machine.
