Hangar9 80" Cub, Saito 56, suitable as APM platform?

I've been thinking about trying APM in an airplane, and looking at different planes to get.  I just had the thought that I already have a few planes that I'm not using, and this one seems like the most likely candidate.  It's in good shape, but hasn't flown in a few years.

How well would this type of airplane work with APM?  My intended use would mostly be for aerial surveying.  I'm sure I could drop in a huge gas tank, and with the 56 purring along, could stay up for a long time.

My biggest concerns are with the engine. Flameouts, and oil spraying down the cockpit getting on the camera, etc.

Is anybody else using a plane like this?

    Hello Robert,

There should not be an issue with the size of the plane, the main problem you will have is vibration on a gas engine, I'm sure you would have seen the amount of electric planes here, the use of electric motors is much better for less vibration, It's not that it could not be done, however there would be a lot more work involved.

This could be worth a look
