Hello,

We are hoping to figure out a way to mount 2 Canon S100 and/or SX260 cameras on our Aero so that we can:

1) Acquire near-infra-red and visual spectrum data at the same time

2) Fly lower and or faster and stagger the cameras to achieve the required overlap for Pix4d 3d processing.

Any suggestions or comments?

  • iskess Great! two cameras under the wings then plenty of room for batteries. All the best Mitch Drzymala pls share your experience.

  • I've seen it done in the armpits of the wings.
    • Thanks- any other info?  i.e..  flying characteristics and mounting method?

      • It will fly fine, the SW is very forgiving. It creates a bit of drag so perhaps you will need to recalculate your endurance. You should also test your stall speed and increase your min speed accordingly.
They were just strapped on with Velcro battery straps through slits in the wings. The slits were reinforced with thin plywood on the top of the wing to keep them from widening. Thin foam wedges were used to angle the cameras correctly so they had the proper overlap, or to minimize parallax depending on your objective. The S100 has the smallest profile of the cameras you listed.
        • Thank you again for your help! I'll give it a try.

          • No problem. I only ask that you report your experience back here so we can all benefit in the spirit of Open Source.
