How does Drone Planner communicate with the drone?

I want to build a drone with GPS, Telemetry, FPV with OSD, and Ground Station (Drone Planner) capabilities. Using a APM2.7, how does Drone Planner communicate with the drone?

  For example, can you use the Gps that the Apm uses, or do you need a separate Gps. What other info can you get from the stock sensors in the Apm and the Gps. Do you need to use the FrSky Telemetry hub or can you plug them directly into the FrSky receiver?
