How to begin

Hey,I have never attempted a UAV before (I just fly helis) but have been on these forums a bit looking at the amazing stuff that you all do and now I have finally got around to wanting to build one for myself (most likely a plane) and am wondering where to begin and how to learn the whole process. Keep in mind I have no comprehension of anything whatsoever! Thanks a lot,James

  • Hi,

I have been reading a lot and think I am getting to grips with what is going on inside a UAV now. My first of most likely many questions to come is how does xbee wire up inside the UAV and at the ground station? Which xbee parts/modules are needed at each end?

    Thanks a lot,

    James
  • Hey,

I have been looking around for a suitable plane for the UAV and come accross this: http://www.modelflight.com.au/rc_model_electric_planes/park_flyer_s.... I don't want to spend much more than this price on the plane and have all the radio gear, motors, ESC, .. etc that I could want to get this thing going.
What I want to know is, Is that plane big enough/suitable for a UAV using the Ardupilot system?

    Thanks,

    James
  • James,

We're working on a guide (or roadmap) to help people like yourself quickly get to the steps and info necessary to start a DIY UAV project, but it's only in the early stages. For now, start with this page and then look around this site and others to learn what you can.

    Hope this helps,
