I'm using 1.1.34 with a APM1 board and am having trouble downloading the flight logs. I'm using arduplane 2.28 fw

On my quad copter I always leave the switch in flight mode since that is not used anymore and after I connect I go to Terminal in APM Planner I don't even need to press enter 3 times. It goes into command mode easily.

With my plane and 2.28 I try the same thing (have also tried it with switch toward back) and I see the serial output and it saying to press enter 3 times and then it proceeds to go through the boot up process and no matter how much I try to enter 3 times, it just continues and eventually spits out a bunch of characters.

I'm just trying to download my log to check on my it's going into failsafe at less than 100 meters from me. I've replaced the Rx but I still have the problem. It goes into circle mode for a couple of seconds and then I get control again.

Do you think the log files will give some clue as to what the problem is?

In the wiki it doesn't mention about pressing enter 3 times to enter terminal mode and talks about using the switch.

Is the wiki outdated?

yes the wiki is outdated. the switch nolonger does anything. are you sure you have gps lock when you take off? as circle only happens if you dont have gps lock.

Yes I have lock. I'm testing on the ground also but I'm pretty sure the failsafe has recently changed to make it so it enters circle for 20 seconds before it RTLs. It's better than an abrupt turn for a RTL.

Do you know why I can't enter terminal mode on the 2…28 plane firmware but on the latest quadcopter firmware it works fine and in fact I don't have to press enter 3 times.
