I'm new to quadcopters and am looking to build my own

I really just started getting into quadcopters recently. I love everything about them and how they work. I've been looking at quadcopter a people have made and they look awesome. If anybody could give some help for the cheapest and easiest way step by step setting up a smaller sized quadcopter. I also want the transmitter to be an Xbox controller just to have a different look than others. The help would be greatly appreciated and thank you
